So many broken faces, so little healing spaces. – by Stephanie Esterhuizen

I see broken faces, they smile,

not to big to care and just a little to not be notice,

I see broken contact,

contact that are just short of emotion and just long enough to perceive  you are there,

I see empty hearts,

complete disconnection…..

what have we become?

why do we only stare?

what happens to emotion,

why do so little care?

we are all broken, some beyond  repair…

what have we done?

what have we done…

we are connected through a screen, yet still completely unseen.

The click of a button has replaced emotional connection,

emotion has gone cold, to the point where the ping of an alert is the only tone,

where a group is only on your phone,

the heartbeat is gone, the world has gone monotone.

What have we become?

What have we become?

Where are all the healing spaces?

a written letter, a book or a journal, a conversation through personal contact.

So helpless yet still filled with meaning,

think it through before you write,

there is no delete button,

there is no flight.

Stop running from the faces and start collecting your spaces,

the spaces of building the broken,

the spaces of filling emotion,

the spaces we all call home.

Make your healing spaces, invite the screen to see their faces,

Recreate your healing spaces.

We are all human,

we should care,

there are only one race of humans out there.

We are the protectors,

we are the mentors,

remove the shield of disconnect.

take out the hugs, take out the emotion, remove them from their hiding places,

and share the gift of healing and spaces.

Become what you need,

the hug,

the conversation,

the laughter,

the group of friends,

Reconnect with the internal you, become the better version of you.

We are all gifts that should be shared with the world,

no matter how broken, together we become whole.
